QUALIFICATIONS

· *Eligible for maximum Pell Grant
· Fall 2025 – valid FAFSA on file by May 30, 2025
· Spring 2026 – valid FAFSA on file by Nov 21, 2025
· Considered a Dependent student per the FAFSA
· Maintain Full-time enrollment
· First-time freshman and transfer students, seeking their first undergraduate degree

RENEWAL CRITERIA

· Maintain minimum 2.25 cumulative GPA
· Earn 12 credit hours or more per semester (excluding winter & summer)
· Meet Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy
· Remain in good standing with the University (academic, financial, & disciplinary)
· Freshman & Transfer – renewable up to 4 years (consecutive),
excluding winter & summer
· Submit FAFSA by priority deadline each year & continue to meet Max. Pell Grant eligibility requirements

STALLION PROMISE FAQ’S

Eligible students will be notified within 30 days of being admitted to NAU with a valid 2025-2026 FAFSA on file.

If your FAFSA is selected for verification, all required documents must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office by May 30, 2025, to determine program eligibility.

The program will cover the remaining balance of any tuition and mandatory fees not covered by other grants, scholarships, exemptions, benefits, and/or waiver programs received by the student. It does not cover food, housing, books, supplies, or miscellaneous charges including parking fees, installment plan fees, late fines, athletic fees, etc.

The Stallion Promise Program is only available for the fall and spring semesters.

Financial aid assistance will be provided if your Pell Grant eligibility changes in upcoming academic years.

Stallion Promise Program recipients are not eligible to receive a credit balance refund/overpayment due to the grant. However, students may be eligible to receive a credit balance refund if they choose to borrow student loans.

*Direct costs – costs that appear on your account statement and are paid directly to the University (i.e., tuition, fees, food, housing).

The Stallion Free Tuition Promise Program is one of many financial assistance programs offered at NAU. We encourage students to submit their FAFSA and review NAU Scholarships for additional opportunities.

Eligible students must maintain full-time enrollment in courses that count towards their degree plan to qualify for the program. Courses taken outside of your degree plan must be paid for out of pocket.

If you withdraw from NAU, you will no longer be guaranteed to continue in the Stallion Free Tuition Promise Program. However, NAU will offer you the maximum financial aid you are eligible for when you re-enroll or re-apply.
