The NAU Library Team is thrilled to extend its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to the resounding success of the Free Book Fair Kick-off event. The event took place at the library between 2.00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024. The free books stayed accessible until Wednesday, November 6th.
Upon entering the library, students were presented with fun Halloween eyeglasses to commemorate Halloween the following day. Students, drawn by the abundance of books ranging from cultural studies to fiction, surrounded the library. One of the standout moments of the event was when one student left carrying more than thirty books, eager to read them. A free tote bag was offered to every attendee who took five or more items at the kick-off event, and it is noteworthy that there were more than 25 patrons who left with a free tote bag and with a beaming smile on their faces.
During the event, students and staff also took pictures wearing Halloween glasses or handheld Halloween props with a Halloween-themed backdrop at the photo station. At the end of the packed event, students left with Halloween candy and some refreshments. To gauge attendees’ satisfaction, a feedback survey was conducted by the library. Out of 99, 33 attendees who responded to the survey, 91% conveyed that they were pleased with the event.
Overall, attendees were delighted to explore an extensive array of books, with numerous patrons expressing their excitement and appreciation for the event. The fair saw a substantial distribution of books, making it a truly rewarding experience for all involved
